The Campbell Report - "Hard Chess" Columns
In the main lines of the Queen's Gambit Declined or the Slav, one or even two flaccid moves by White often leave Black still wondering where his counterplay is.
This comes close to being an adequate defense to the Queen's Gambit, and it should hardly be dismissed merely because it saddles Black with an IQP.
One of the very pleasant things about the Queen's Gambit is that White has more than one good way to play for a win against almost anything Black chooses.

Queen's Gambit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Queen's Gambit is one of the oldest known chess openings, as Lucena wrote about it in 1497 and it is mentioned in an earlier manuscript in Göttingen.
During the early period of modern chess queen pawn openings were not in fashion, and the Queen's Gambit did not become common until the 1873 tournament in Vienna.
The Queen's Gambit is still frequently played, however, and it remains an important part of many grandmasters' opening repertoires.

In the unusual Queen's Gambit, grandmaster Chris Ward covers three offbeat but nevertheless important defenses to this ancient opening.
The final variation (1 d4 d5 2 c4 Bf5) is an interesting way to try to solve immediately the age old problem of how to develop the queen's bishop in the Queen's Gambit Declined.

 Charting Chess Openings
All of these may still be grouped under the name Queen's Gambit Declined, but the commonness of their usage has made them more than just continuations or variations; they are, indeed, openings in their own right.
Specifically, the Indian Defense (see Q-11.2) and the Queen's Gambit Declined (Q-21.8) can lead to the same position at the beginning of move 4.
Thus on page Q we find that, at row 21, column 8, the "Queens Gambit Declined" is written beneath the Underline; this is a very popular defense.

 Chess openings: Queen's Indian (E12)
I went through a phase when I was younger where I wanted to play the Queen's Gambit but this expert at the club kept playing the Budapest which was kind of off topic, so I learned the Colle System as a sort of beginning QP opening.
For example, i don't think Queen's Gambit players lack the patience to play positionally(if they do, they are playing the wrong opening), and this isn't a particularly theoretical opening either.
That is not complete repertoire since Queen Pawn is easy alternative (and a very dangerous one for black) in case you want to bust centerless defence players.
