		The Queen Anne Revival Style began in Britain in the 1860s largely as a reaction to the monumental and/or Gothic styles that were flourishing in the other "Revivals" (see Gothic Revival and Classical Revival).
		The massing of the building, however, is Queen Anne, with the side tower, gables, large veranda, and multiple roof sections.
		Unlike many Queen Annes where two sides of the building are plain, "Queen Anne in front and Mary Anne in the rear" (Maitland), there are half-timbered gables on all sides and a porch with Ionic columns and a simple architrave on the rear of the building.

		Queen Anne's County was embraced as part of Talbot County in 1662, excluding Kent Island.
		Queen Anne's County is 401 square miles or 257,920 acres.
		The county is bound by Kent County to the NW, Delaware and Caroline County at the E and SE, Talbot County to the S, and the Chesapeake Bay to the W. The county seat was Queenstown from 1706 until 1784.

	King George's War
		In character this war was similar to that which preceded it, a contest over Acadia and New France, consisting of surprises and bloody massacres.
		Early in the conflict the coast of Maine was swept by bands of savage red men and equally savage Frenchmen, and hundreds of men, women, and children were tomhawked or carried into captivity.
		In 1704 the colonists made an unsuccessful attack by sea on Port Royal, Acadia, and another in 1707; and three years later the British government, having at last decided to aid the colonies, sent a small fleet under Colonel Nicholson, which was joined by an armament from Boston, and a third attack was made.
