Silvia, The Queen of Sweden, was born in Heidelberg, Germany, on 23 December 1943. Her parents were the late Walther Sommerlath and his Brazilian wife Alice, née de Toledo, also deceased.
They announced their engagement at the Royal Palace of Stockholm on 12 March1976, and they were married on 19 June the same year.
Last weekend KingCarl Gustaf was in Kristianstad, Skåne County in the south of Sweden, to attend the huge Jiingijamborii that was held to celebrate the scouting movement’s centenary.
At the same time as the King was in the south of Sweden, QueenSilvia was in Germany during the weekend.
The summers at Sofiero in the south of Sweden was the family’s best times; then they could devote themselves to their passions and just live a family life completely undisturbed with the beautiful sea and a huge garden at their disposal.
