Queen Street, Auckland, New Zealand, is the major commercial thoroughfare of the country's main population centre.
Named after Queen Victoria, Queen Street was an early development of the new town of Auckland (founded in 1840) although initially the main street was intended to be Shortland Street.
At the northern waterfront entrance to Queen Street is Queen Elizabeth II Square, often referred to as QEII Square.

The street's open stretch on the north also sees the homeless, many at the corner of Sherbourne; the Salvation Army's Maxwell Meighen Centre, another men's shelter, is just up the street.
The rise is man-made, a ramp to the Queen Street bridge.

At the corner of Queen Street where the Haarts estate agency now stands were previously two nineteenth-century buildings, one occupied by William Plowright, an antiques dealer, the other by tearooms.
The latter was seriously damaged by incendiary bombs during the war, and after remaining something of an eyesore both properties were eventually demolished in 1956.
Nowadays the north side of the church may still be glimpsed from the precinct known as St Michael-at-Pleas, between Princes Street and Tombland, while from Queen Street the south porch and upper stages of the tower are all that remain visible.

The City of Toronto is considering making part of Queen Street West into a protected heritage site, but some store owners are objecting to the proposal saying it's an honour they don't want.
The aim is to preserve the nature of Queen Street West, which has evolved into one of the most well-known streets in Canada with its unique collection of stores, music venues and a vibrant street culture.
Longtime residents and property owners on the street are signing a petition to try to stop the plan, which they believe would hurt property values by limiting potential development.

Second North Queen constructed the core of Gruen's plan--the concrete superstructure defining Lancaster Square--but proved unable to attract the retail and office development essential to the success of the project.
By November 1968 the land on both sides of North Queen Street had been cleared and the first parcel, the site of the Hilton Hotel, had been turned over to the private developer, Second North Queen Corporation.
