Early in the year 1913, the Chamber of Commerce of the Borough of Queens recommended to Borough President Maurice E. Connolly that it would be appropriate if an official Queens Flag were to be designed and adopted.
A special committee consisting of Commissioner of Highways G. Howland Leavitt, Louis Windemuller and Charles G. Meyer was appointed to confer with E. Hageman Hall, president of the New York Historical Society and secretary of the American Scenic and Historical Preservation Society, for the purpose of authenticating the various elements of the design.
The new Queens Flag was first displayed officially at the celebration inaugurating construction of the dual rapid transit system in Queens on June 7, 1913.

The QBPL has subcontracted their entire book sales operation to "bLogistics" under the recommendation of officials from the Boston Public Library.
Basically, the QBPL sold all their books to "bLogistics", which will try to sell them off to others for a profit.

Queens Borough Public Library (QBPL), NY, has become the first public library ever to be named a resource library in the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NLM).
As a resource library, QBPL will benefit from a five-year, $7.3 million contract for community outreach programs and partnerships with medical providers.
QBPL already has access to the NLM DOCLINE interlibrary loan system and formal partnerships with Queens Health Network, American Cancer Society, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, as well as relationships with many healthcare providers and community-based agencies.

The Dunton Library had its beginning April 26, 1917, in a small space in Thornton’s drug store at 31 Jerome Avenue, as a community station in the Traveling Division of the Queens Borough Public Library.
Among Dunton’s accomplishments was his help in founding the Bank of Jamaica, his election (1869) and re-election (1896) to the Board of Supervisors of Queens County, and his being supervisor of the Town of Jamaica.
