Mr Kirkpatrick alleges that 500 voters at the 1995 Queensland State election in the State Division of Mundingburra were illegal voters and were removed from the roll before the by-election in 1996.
In 1983, the last general election before the introduction of division wide ordinary voting, less than 1 in 6 electors were located in a subdivision smaller than 5,000 enrolments, and more than 2 in 5 were in subdivisions larger than 10,000.
Ms Irwin’s submission concerns the high informal vote in the Division of Fowler, which recorded the highest informal vote in the country at the 2001 federal election.

After the 1995 election, the Party was approached by other groups, including four-wheel drivers, recreational fishermen, horse-riders and fossickers, seeking help with a growing minefield of laws and regulations which hampered those groups in the pursuit of their activities.
In the meantime the Party had spread to Victoria, Queensland, ACT and South Australia, and continued to fight State and Federal elections in various areas, learning as it went.
By the time of the 1995 New South Wales State election it had learned enough to run a successful campaign leading to John Tingle being elected to the NSW Legislative Council.

In 1988 Rudd was appointed Chief of Staff to the Labor Opposition Leader in Queensland, Wayne Goss, a position he held until 1991, when Goss, by now Premier, appointed him Director-General of the Cabinet Office.
Following the election of former shadow Treasurer Mark Latham, Rudd was expected by some pundits to be demoted or moved as a result of his support for Kim Beazley, but he retained his portfolio.
When the Goss government lost office in 1995, Rudd was hired as a Senior China Consultant by the accounting firm KPMG Australia.
