Queenstown, New Zealand is a resort town in Otago, in the south-west of New Zealand's South Island.
Along with Mount Ruapehu, Queenstown is a centre for snow sports in New Zealand, with people from all over the country and the rest of the world travelling to ski at the four main mountain skifields (Cardrona, Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Treble Cone).
Queenstown airport was controversially upgraded to be able to handle jet aircraft, including international flights from Australia in the 1990's.

I have always been under the impression that the Lusitania`s final destination was to be Liverpool.
Apparently a number of wireless messages are now missing from the archives about 5 I think.It is said that one of these missing messages is the Queenstown wireless.
Others have dismissed the diversion story on the basis that the ship`s last turn was away from port i.e away from Queenstown.
