Ms Quentin Bryce was educated at Moreton Bay College, Brisbane, and later at the University of Queensland where she graduated with the degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws.
From 1988 to 1993, Ms Bryce served as Federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner, and in the period 1993 to 1996, she was founding Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the National Childcare Accreditation Council.
From 1997 to her appointment as Governor of Queensland in 2003, Quentin Bryce was Principal and Chief Executive Officer of The Women’s College within the University of Sydney, New South Wales.

It is understood both men were forced out after personally warning Dr Bryce she risked compromising her position by expecting staff to work at private parties organised by her family members.
