Quiet Riot is an American heavy metal band, whose 1983 and 1984 success contributed to launching the 1980s' glam metal scene.
Some have guessed that the name "Quiet Riot" comes from a phrase in John Barth's 1960s novel Giles Goat-Boy and/or to be a pun on the title of "White Riot" by The Clash.
With the original four members, they recorded their debut album Quiet Riot, or QR I, which was released in Japan in 1978.

Quiet Riot's career would go downhill after the next album but Metal Health is still a good album despite some of the ridicule heaped on it.
The third and final Quiet Riot album represented was the self titled album, referred to as "QR" or "Quiet Riot" depending on who you talk to (although "Quiet Riot" was also a Japanese album title in their early days with Randy).
There are no bonuses, one studio album that should have been featured didn't even get represented and an album with a replacement singer is represented with three tracks, which is as many as one of their platinum albums has featured on this collection.

Quiet Riot's first two albums featured the guitar talents of Randy Rhoads, who of course went on to fame with Ozzy Osbourne and then later was immortalized by his death in a plance crash.
Quiet Riot II is my favorite of the two and features a slightly more glam rock sound.
Quiet Riot 88 is certainly not a total waste of plastic, but not the band's best either.

Kevin is amazing-looking up close, and has transformed himself from the scrawny, balding speed freak you remember from those '80s Quiet Riot videos into this full-on rock Adonis with a killer six pack and arms to die for.
But Quiet Riot was always about so much more than just big guitar noise and epic macho posturing.
Hearing Quiet Riot's hard-driving, melodic, anthemic, life-affirming, joyous, crazy party rock amid all the shitty false metal and mind-numbing idiot rock that passes for pop music these days is like oxygen in a vacuum.

I don't give many albums five stars straight up, but for a band like Quiet Riot -- this is deserving every bit of five stars as it is easilly the best album all-around that QR put out.
This album was miles better than the previous two or three that DuBrow and company had put out in the mid 80's, and is also better than some of the recent QR albums with the reunited line-up which are indeed good -- but this just sounds much better.
I would have to say 1988's Quiet Riot has to be the strongest album the band has ever put out.Stay with me tonight,Don't wanna be your fool, and Empty promises are great songs.Some of the remaining songs are all that great,but they are more interesting than the filler on their other albums.

It was a thrill for me to talk to one of the most famous heavy metal bad boys to emerge from the,now famous, LA music scene in the late 1970’s.
When Randy left, we quit using the name Quiet Riot, so that when members came and went, we would not have the same problems we did.
Kevin: The album came out in March of ‘83 and we played our first arena gig with the Scorpions in April or May. We opened for the Scorpions because we were with the same agency as them.
