Quiet Riot was a heavy metal band, one of the first to become a pop sensation in the 1980s.
After Quiet Riot (1978) and Quiet Riot II (1979), Rhoads left to collaborate with Ozzy Osbourne in the latter's nascent solo career.
The band fell apart and Dubrow began a solo career, forming a back-up band of Frankie Banali (drums), Rudy Sarzo (bass guitar, and who was also part of Osbourne's touring ensemble in the early 1980s) and Carlos Cavazo (guitar).

This is the chronicle of the rise and fall of Quiet Riot, and the eventual rebirth of vocalist Kevin DuBrow.
Quiet Riot was born in 1975, and immediately set themselves the task of working their way up through the Los Angeles club scene.
Quiet Riot was no more, until 1991 when Kevin rekindled his friendship with guitarist Carlos Cavazo, and the two made plans for a new band, tentatively called Heat.

 No Life 'til Metal - CD Gallery - Quiet Riot
Quiet Riot's first two albums featured the guitar talents of Randy Rhoads, who of course went on to fame with Ozzy Osbourne and then later was immortalized by his death in a plance crash.
Quiet Riot II is my favorite of the two and features a slightly more glam rock sound.
Quiet Riot 88 is certainly not a total waste of plastic, but not the band's best either.

Following the death of Randy Rhoads in a plane crash on March 19, 1982, DuBrow attempted to reform Quiet Riot, presumably without Rhodes.
None of the other original members were interested, so Tony Cavazo's brother Carlos joined as lead guitarist, Rudy Sarzo re-joined the band on bass and Rudy's friend, drummer Frankie Banalii, completed the line up.

Within six months of leaving Quiet Riot, Kelly had cut his hair and begun a career as a paramedic.
Well, quite frankly the way this all started was…right after I left Quiet Riot, I became a paramedic which I did for almost ten years in LA. I had a female driver one day, and she brought a camera to work.
We went with that, we got a regular drummer and Quiet Riot was born.

No, this was heavy metal and Quiet Riot was one of the first bands to break from the then burgeoning L.A. scene to the masses.
But never mind recent history, Quiet Riot will live on as one of my favorite bands.
While definitely driving metal up the rest of the way to the forefront of popularity in the States, Quiet Riot's 15 minutes were over pretty quick and it seems that they were just the right band at the right time.
