Although Quill is a little slower than the other dogs at the school, he seems to have an unusual 'understanding' and remarkable patience with his trainers.
The storyline of the movie is, surprisingly, not complicated at all.
Overall, "Quill" is a movie worth watching because: (1) the movie is so touching that it will make you cry (except if you are a guy) (2) you get to see a very lovable Quill and; (3) there are lots of cute Japanese girls in the movie.

ROTTEN TOMATOES: The Vine: Stay Puft's House of Marshmallow
Very simply, the movie illustrates how luck plays a large role in life, or more appropriately, how the universe operates on a principle of chaos and is essentially meaningless.
The strength of Quill can be attributed to actor Kaoru Kobayashi, who is simply wonderful as Watanabe, the blind man who takes on Quill as his seeing eye dog.
Quill falls asleep and dreams about a stuffy teddy bear his previous owners gave him as a present.

 Quills: Cinephiles Movie Review
Quills delivers a fictional story that focuses on the life of the late eighteenth century French writer during his imprisonment in the Charenton Asylum.
Quills tries to expose the personality of the Marquis de Sade while speculating on the motives behind his "incendiary prose", as well as its effects on others.
Quills quickly and clearly defines the character of Sade as a source of immorality, and establishes people's appetite for his sadistic accounts.

 Movie Reviews: 2002
The movie is scarcely under way before a scruffy cameraman, played by Ed Burns, is telling Jolie and us that she is vain and shallow and that her life is empty.
Where the movie strays furthest from the source is in its female lead, and by no coincidence Winona Ryder is the worst thing in the picture (with the possible exception of Peter Gallagher's moustache).
The original movie had a loopy sort of appeal because we were discovering all of this weirdness for the first time, just as Smith's Agent J was.

After that, Quill goes to the training centre, learns how to be a seeing-eye dog, and then gets paired with a grumpy guy who snaps at his wife and children.

The only character that I found wanting to survive the movie was Preacher, the cocky chef, played by L.L. Cool J. Of all the actors in the movie, the former rap star was the only one who seemed to realize that the movie shouldn’t take itself so seriously.
Movies based on reality have a tendency to find themselves on television, unless of course, Julia Roberts is starring in one.
This movie won an Oscar for Best Picture, an hardly surprising victory, since it was the movie that had all the hype and all the gloss, and none of the substance.

And for the most part the movie itself slides over these points with a cheerful nod and wink to the audience; the very cheesiness of the references is the biggest part of the joke.
As it is, this movie is merely one of the better comedies to appear in the first half of 2003.
The beauty of the movie is in the way it carefully, slowly, shows Castle-Hughes coming to understand what her destiny means, and what she must do to fulfill it.

AirO2bic (formerly the Quill) Vertical Mouse by Designer Appliances - Detailed Specification Sheet
The Quill is the first and only Grip-Less mouse that allows you to move the pointer without having to grasp the mousing unit, allowing your hand to remain relaxed.
By rotating the hand into the handshake position, The Quill not only removes the 'twist' from the arm and resulting unwinding of the Median nerve, but it also removes the usual 'bend' of the wrist that users adopt when the mouse is lower than the arm.
As the Quill is optical it is zero maintenance and no mouse mat is actually needed, though as with all optical mice some shiny surfaces can cause the pointer to 'stutter'.

"Quills" is the story of the last years of the French Marquis de Sade, so infamous that a whole sexual subculture was named after him.
Spending his last years in an asylum for his scandalous sexual behavior and writings, de Sade (Geoffrey Rush) struggles to keep writing, using a worshipful chambermaid (Kate Winslet) to smuggle his manuscripts out to be published.
The film is witty and hip in dealing with the subject matter, but don't miss the true point of the story, which is given away in the film's title.

In the movie, however, the Marquis de Sade’s writings ( Justine, or the Misfortunes of Virtue) are indeed presented as essentially pornographic.
Perhaps they, for their time, they had the “redeeming social value” of getting people to question their beliefs—religious (Christianity basing its theology on the Virgin Birth as an oxymoron) and sexual, the “honest” mental exploration of sensuality and the hidden power of women.

Quills unspools its absorbing story, enticing the audience with humor and titillation until it ensnares it with horror and pathos, then sends it home to ponder the ramifications.
Of course, Sade cannot be so easily deterred and grows more offensive, taunting Dr. Royer-Collard by parading the doctor’s own perversities (borne on the gossiping lips of servants to the Marquis’ ears) with a squirmingly hilarious play before the asylum and assorted visitors.
Quills captures what is perhaps Sade’s only genius: the ability not merely to touch a nerve, but to yank on it and give it a searing twist.

It's one of those movies that I enjoy while I'm watching it and then in the car ride home I see how illogical it is. I haven't read the story, and even though it's supposed to stay true to the story I hated the ending.
I thought the movie was great--my brother and I sat next to each other and clung to each other because we were so scared (read: I clung to him because I was scared)--but the ending just didn't fit the rest of the movie.
