		Posted - 04/11/2006 : 08:47:42 AM I asked this same question when I was around 12 or 13 to my grandfather.
		He is a WWII vet, was in the Phillipines and brought home many Japanese military items, which started my collection.
		He stated that he was told, during a training session, that the hooked quillion was for the purpose of using the hook to grab the other guy's weapon.

		The secrecy around the book binding has to do with the fact that the books have been altered to contain fictional marginalia and refer to one another, and they’re being bound to match the binding of a certain library into which they will be smuggled and deposited.
		I’m interested to see what will distinguish Quillion from the Web in general in the long term, once it has been spidered by Google, once the bot strikes begin.
