Quintet For Clarinet And Strings In B Minor, Op.
As a composition, the opus 115 Clarinet Quintet is sheer autumnal glory.
In the Clarinet Trio, which I don't favor quite as much as the B minor Quintet, the playing of cellist Csaba Onczay pianist Jenoe Jando and clarinetist Balogh is especially noteworthy in revealing the contemplative nature of the second movement adagio.

In Spiderdance by John Anthony Lennon, Nunemaker performs as part of a clarinet and piano duo, and the clarinet forms an equal partnership with string quartet in Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet by Richard Lavenda.
As a duo for clarinet and piano, it depends heavily on the piano to describe the movements of a spider, with the clarinet providing commentary as a kind of witness to the spider's movements.
The slow-moving "Serenade" contains rich string and clarinet sonorities evoking a little of the atmosphere of the second movement of the Brahms Quintet; in fact, at one point there is a startling melodic quote by the clarinet from that movement.

Music Preview: PSO clarinetist votes 'no' on vibrato for classical works
Rusinek, like most other classical clarinet players, rarely if ever uses a vibrato, the quavering sound that varies either the pitch of a note (done by vibrating the jaw and lips), or its intensity (done with contractions of the diaphragm) or both.
Finally, Richard Stoltzman, one of the best-known clarinet soloists in the world, says he thinks the no-vibrato rule might have something to do with the fact that jazz clarinet soloists are often in the spotlight, leading bands, bending and swaying, interacting with the audience.
The clarinet vibrato controversy is obviously not on most people's radar at all, and even many classical music fans may not be aware of the no-vibrato bias.

Representing a happy unity of virtuoso writing with genuine inventiveness and musicality, they will maintain their rank next to the works of Mozart and Brahms as long as clarinets are played.
Written for Weber's friend Heinrich Baermann, the works are, in chronological order: a Concertino and two Concertos with orchestra, Variations with piano (all 1811), a Quintet for clarinet and strings, "Introduction, Theme and Variations" for the same combination (both 1815).
Jaehn's contention is correct insofar as these editions show many obvious misprints as well as many inconsistencies--for example, discrepancies in a recapitulation section that is obviously intended to be identical with the exposition.

Anton Stadler - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Anton Stadler (1753 - 1812) was a clarinet and basset horn player for whom Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote both his Quintet for Clarinet and Strings and Clarinet Concerto.
He was reputed to have a beautiful tone, with exceptional mastery of the low register of the basset clarinet and basset horn playing.
It was possibly this specialism in second clarinet along with the basset horn that led to his collaboration with Theodore Lotz, a clarinet maker.

The Clarinet Quintet is an autumnal work, composed at a time when Brahms was haunted by the fear that his creative force had dried up.
The story goes that Brahms destroyed some twenty string quartets before arriving at what he considered his "first" quartet, which then went through almost twenty years of revising, polishing and fussing before he allowed it to be published.

The Clarinet Quintet has Brahms as its immediate inspiration, but as far as I can tell, it's not particularly Brahmsian.
The String Quartet #13 (Simpson completed fifteen in all) runs to four movements, played without a break, with ideas in earlier movements showing up again in later ones.
The liner notes claim that all the material, as in the Clarinet Quintet, comes from the introduction to the first movement, a Ländler idea straight out of Mahler.

 Clarinet Quintet
A clarinet quintet is a musical grouping made up by a clarinet and string quartet.
The quintet form is one of the most popular types of clarinet music, with the agile and warm sound a good partner to the strings, often blending in with the mellow tones of the viola or soaring above the strings with delicate notes from the high register.
The most famous of all quintets is the Mozart Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in A Major, K. Written in 1789 for Mozart’s friend the virtuoso clarinetist Anton Stadler, this piece is a perennial favorite of players and listeners alike.
