The Quittapahilla Creek Watershed is situated in the Ridge and Valley physiographic region in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.
Quittapahilla Creek is a tributary to Swatara Creek and is part of the Susquehanna River Basin.
Past and current land use and land management practices in the rural areas, suburban communities, and urban centers have resulted in degraded water quality, stream bank and bed erosion, sedimentation, flooding, and the loss of riparian and in-stream habitat throughout the Quittapahilla Creek Watershed.

Quittapahilla Creek (nicknamed the "Quittie") is a tributary of Swatara Creek, approximately 25 mi (40 km) long, in south central Pennsylvania in the United States.
From the late 18th century to the mid 19th century, the creek was used as part of the route of the Union Canal, which connected the headwaters of the creek with Tulpehocken Creek, a tributary of the Schuylkill River.
By the late 20th century the creek had become polluted from steel mill waste.

The Quittapahilla Watershed Association was organized in 1997 by a group of individuals who are committed to the quality and preservation of the Quittapahilla Creek.
The entire Quittapahilla Watershed is in Lebanon County, and the creek's major tributaries include Killinger Run, Bachman Run, Beck Creek and Snitz Creek.
A special meeting was called on June 8, 1997 to organize the Quittapahilla Watershed Association (QWA), and in1998 the group became affiliated with the Swatara Creek Watershed Association.

Derry township, organized in 1729, was then bounded as follows: Beginning at the mouth of the Conewago, thence up the Susquehanna to the mouth of the Swatara; thence up the Swatara to the mouth off the Quittapahilla; thence south to the Conewago, and down the same to the place of beginning.
June 19th, 1757, nineteen persons were killed in a mill on the Quittapahilla Creek; and on the 9th of September, of the same year, a boy and a girl were stolen from Donegal township, a few miles south of Derry.
The Conewago Creek flows westerly through the township, north of the Conewago Hills, on which is the Colebrook Furnace, now in operation for over 90 years.

HARRISBURG (April 21) -- The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) today announced that $49,961 is available through a grant process for stream restoration, habitat enhancement, and recreational enhancement activities on streams located in the Tulpehocken and Quittapahilla Creek watersheds.
Only project proposals located within the Tulpehocken and/or Quittapahilla Creek watersheds will be considered.
These monies can be used for stand-alone projects or to supplement other funding for larger projects that are designed to improve aquatic habitat, water quality, or recreational use.
