Quizbowl (or Quiz-bowl or quiz bowl) is a family of games of questions and answers on all topics of human knowledge, commonly played in high school and college.
Quiz Bowl is generally played at tournaments, though high schools will also commonly play single matches against local schools, or schools within an athletic conference.
The "College Quiz Bowl" was broadcast on NBC radio from 1953 to 1955, General Electric College Bowl was televised on CBS then NBC from 1959 to 1970, College Bowl returned to CBS radio 1974-76, and HCASC was broadcast on BET until 1995.

Quiz Bowl is a competition where you are challenged on speed and knowledge in many subjects.
Quiz Bowl members are asked advanced questions relating to art, inventions, television shows, science, geography, literature, music, government, history, math, religion, the Internet, etc. But having light speed knowledge is not the only factor in Quiz Bowl.
One activity our Quiz Bowl members take part in is the Senior High tournaments at the regional, state, and overall level in March.

The very first known "College Quiz Bowl" match was aired on NBC radio October 10, 1953 with Northwestern University, broadcasting out of WMAQ in Chicago, defeating Columbia, broadcasting out of WNBC in New York, 135-60.
When the smoke settled the 5 time champions were retired from the show with $10,500 in scholarships for the school, a silver trophy for the team, and a champagne party given in their honor by Dean David Truman.
Columbia was present at Penn bowl 6 in 1996 to finish 12th in their division of 16.

The Northside High School Quiz Bowl team is part of the overall academic pride that Northside High School has carried along with itself for 70+ years.

Junior Grayson Holmes, the team's president, said that UNC applied for the hosting duties last April as a joint bid with Duke University but that UNC was eventually asked to host because of the large size of the campus.
Hannah Johnson, vice president of the Carolina Academic Team and co-director of the competition with Holmes, said the duties of the host campus are extensive and include registering teams, asking questions during the tournament and running various errands.
