	Bombardier / Transportation
		R142 rapid transit vehicle off its production line for delivery to the MTA New York City Transit (NYCT).
		The R142 cars, which are customized to NYCT specifications, represent some of the most advanced in-service systems for AC propulsion and dynamic braking, trucks, friction brakes, doors and on-board diagnostics, status and communications systems.
		Carbody shells for the R142 are constructed at Bombardier Transportation's La Pocatière, Quebec manufacturing plant with final assembly and testing activities taking place at facilities in Plattsburgh, New York.

		Built by Bombardier in Plattsburgh, New York and Barre, Vermont from 1999-2002, these 1,060 cars, along with the R142A will be the new backbone of the IRT fleet.

		The R142As have a distinct howl as well but that's part of their propulsion, I've never heard an R142 "howl" though.

		We didn't create the R142 Trainset, one of my team members modified the R142 Trainset with sounds though that we didn't release.
		The tri-tone "violin" sound cannot be heard inside a R142 (but definitely outside) and thus that's why it can't be heard when you're operating the train.
		I rode an R142 today, and the violin sound could only be heard from the outside.
