In 1939, the Polish Air Force was organized as two organizations - a national air defense and bomber force, and as air defense, close air support, and recon units serving with the field armies.
The Rumanian Air Force (Fortelor Regal ale Aeriene Romana or FRAR) was armed largely with Polish-built aircraft in the beginning of the war, both aircraft they bought or built under license and aircraft interned during the Polish Campaign of 1939.
Germany rushed an air group to Ploesti, and also began to supply the FRAR with 150 Bf109Gs; some of these were G-6s sent to the 4 fighter sqdns on the Russian Front, as well as 115 Ju-87Ds and 3 squadrons of Ju-88 bombers.

During the Socialist era the Yugoslav Air Force used a fin flash which was a full fin width stretched national flag (but without vertical deformation of the star, of course).
However as part of the RAF's Balkan Air Force (June 1944 - July 1945) the Yugoslav Air Force while using the same roundel as in the later Socialist era used a square fin flash combined of vertical blue-white-red stripes with a red star in the center of the white stripe.
In an earlier Robertson's book [rob56] there is a fl and white photograph of a Balkan Air Force Spitfire in which the front stripe of the fin flash appears to be red.

On one raid alone, on Cologne in August 1941, nearly a quarter of the attacking force was lost.
In 1944, he went to Bari to form the Balkan air force, which mainly engaged in attacking Romanian oilfields, and giving air support to the Yugoslav partisans.
Offered the post of controller of the national air traffic service, Sinclair retired from the RAF in 1960, after which he moved to Shipton-under-Wychwood, where, until forced to give up, he enjoyed driving fast cars, and fishing; he landed his last salmon at the age of 90 on a memorable visit to South Uist.

The Yugoslav Partisan Air Force was never a single united organisation, but instead was made of three separate elements, equipped and trained in three different ways.
Yugoslavia was invaded by Axis forces on 6 April 1941 and was forced to surrender on 17 April.
In January 1945 the Air Force of the NOVJ was renamed the Air Force of the Yugoslav Army (Vazduhoplovstvo Jugoslovenske Armije), and later the RV i PVO - Ratno Vazduhoplovstvo i Protivvazdusna Odbrana (Air Force and Anti-Aircraft Defence).

It comprised the first Air Force bombardment group to leave the USA for a combat zone in WWII.
Eight 9th Air Force groups of B-26s led the entire Allied bomber stream and bombed shore installations at Utah and Omaha beaches just minutes ahead of the troop landings.
The only other one left is being resorted at the Paris Air Museum and it was the other G model that the French Air Force and later Air France used for mechanical instructional purposes.

After a career of air shows in the hands of Jeffrey Quill, she was presented in September 1965 to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, who operate her to this day.
In December 1961 it was overhauled and pole mounted as a gate guardian at RAF Locking.
Delivered to RAF Lyneham as a single seat Mk IX in December 1943, it served with 340 and 341 Squadrons, and was converted for the Irish Air Corps to Tr9 configuration in July 1950.
