She finished her RAF service career as a Mark T5 with Strike Command Bombing School (aka 1066 Squadron) at RAF Lindholme where she was flown to RAF Gatow, Germany by Squadron Leader Jackson.
Based at RAF Dishforth 1954/5 she "belly flopped" at then RAF Middleton St George, now Teeside Airport.(recalled are the appalling weather conditions of that period of winter).
This was the RAF’s last crash during the Berlin Airlift and occurred on take off from Tegel Airport (French Sector) on 16th July 1949, it is thought there may have been incorrect tail trim on take off (or, I have heard an engine failure) resulting in the deaths of five RAF personnel.

The primary occupier of the former RAF Dishforth (now Dishforth Airfield) is 9 Regiment Army Corps (9 Reg AAC), a Joint Helicopter Command (JHC) unit.
The JHC is currently engaged in carrying out an estates rationalisation study and one of the options is to re-deploy all helicopters and manpower from Dishforth Airfield to Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton.
The study is due to report in autumn 2001 and no decisions on the redeployment of manpower currently based at Dishforth or the disposal or re-use of Dishforth Airfield will be made until then.

A report says: "While recognising the military importance of RAF Dishforth, the council is concerned that unnecessary operation of the lights does not become an issue in the interests of the amenities of local residents, in particular light pollution."
Dishforth parish council wanted safeguards about light pollution while Marton-le-Moor parish council says such pollution is causing concern.
