In the ladies match, RAF A were narrowly defeated by a more experienced Gibraltar A, but recovered well to defeat Gibraltar B. RAF B matched their A team colleagues and the contest resulted in a 2-2 draw.
Both RAF A and B were narrowly edged out in an enthralling contest against their Spanish opponents and the tournament resulted in hard fought and most enjoyable draw.

I joined the RAF on 11 August 1970 having passed through all the preliminaries at the RAF Careers Office, Shell House, in the centre of Bristol.
RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire was an interesting posting but after only 18 months another move followed, this time to RAF Abingdon in Oxfordshire.
After these courses were completed in September 1987 I was posted to RAF Oakhanger a small RAF station in Hampshire where I remained for the almost 4 years until summoned to Saudi Arabia.

No 6 Squadron RAF Association is holding it`s annual reunion for year 2000 in Cyprus at RAF Akrotiri, this November 17th to 30th.
Looking for Larry Gaines who was a ground crew sergeant with 73 Squadron during 1953/54, and news of his daughter Margaret, who lived at Habb with her parents at that time, and who later became a nurse with the RAF and was at the RAF hospital at Ely in 1957.

 Update on newsitem: RAF Buchan downgraded
The service currently provided by RAF Buchan will be transferred to RAF Boulmer in Northumberland when the present refurbishment has been completed.
RAF Boulmer is currently celebrating it's 50th anniversary.
It has also been announced that RAF Oakhanger in Hampshire, the satellite communications base will be closed as an RAF station and be taken over by Paradigm Services, a commercial company.

RAF Boddington's secure SIGINT enclave, just a few hundred yards to the east of Barrow's village centre, is only distinguishable from the village's cottages and the surrounding outbuildings of Barrow House Farm by consulting the 1:10000 OS maps, but there's still no label.
It is known that RAF Boddington is connected by some sort of communications link to GCHQ, which is just a few miles to the south east, over on the other side of the M5 motorway.
Note RAF Innsworth close by, near Gloucestershire Airport, which is the HQ of the RAF's Personnel and Training Command.

Again citing "security sources," the paper reported that the man previously arrested by the Defense Ministry was now out on bail, and that countries of the British Commonwealth that use British military satellites have demanded explanations from the government.

From 1971 until 1981 he was involved in a number of satellite and terrestrial communications research programmes whilst with the Royal Signals and Radar Research Establishment (now part of the Defence Research Agency).
In 1981 he joined the procurement branch of the Ministery of Defence (MOD(UK), where he was project manager for strategic radio communications, with responsibility for the procurement of long haul strategic HF radio stations and satellite ground terminals, including the rebuild of RAF Oakhanger.
During this time, he was responsible for a number of multinational collaborative ventures, including the US/UK 'universal satcom modem' project.

200m south east of the church (down the road towards Oakhanger) is a gate dedicated to Keith White.
This was essentially a manor church, built between 1100 and 1125 by one of William the Conqueror's knights, William de Mauditt, in a clearing in the forest.
On our way back to the car we met the church warden of Oakhanger who reckoned it was the fl death that had wiped out the village.
