The Tornado F2 was the abortive first generation of the air superiority version (ADV) of the Panavia Tornado in Royal Air Force service.
They proved so bad that the radomes of the aircraft were actually filled with concrete and lead ballast as an interim measure until they could be upgraded to the newer F3 standard.
The concrete radar was nicknamed Blue Circle, in line with British radar nomenclature and a play on the fact that a British cement and concrete firm is also named Blue Circle.
