 | | The RB199 Future Support Project (FSP) was begun in July 2001 as a joint review by the Tornado IPT and other organisations involved in the support and operation of the engine; Rolls-Royce, Defence Aviation Repair Agency (DARA), Wood Group Component Repair, Headquarters RAF Strike Command (HQ STC) and NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA). |
 | | The overall aim of the RB199 FSP was to halve the cost of supporting the RB199 in the 5 years from FY 02/03 to FY 07/08, while providing adequate engine availability, maintaining current safety levels, decreasing its adverse operational effect, increasing reliability and reducing its maintenance burden. |
 | | The work that was done to support the pilot project, including the cost models, has been handed over to the IPT which has created the post of Project Coordinator to manage further work in the long term, to test the impact of future activity in financial terms and to realise the benefits into the STP. |
