Reo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Reo was founded by Ransom E. Olds in August 1904 (the name of the founder also lived on in the Oldsmobile).
Reo manufactured automobiles from 1905 to 1936, including the famous Reo Speed-Wagon, an ancestor of the pickup truck, which gave its name to the 1970s rock and roll group REO Speedwagon.
By 1907 Reo had gross sales of four million dollars and the company was one of the top four automobile manufacturers in the U.S. After 1908 however, despite the introduction of improved cars designed by Olds, Reo's share of the automobile market shrank due in part to competition from giants like Ford and General Motors.

Although REO was slowly inching their way to big-time success, no one (not even the band) could have predicted the massive hit that their next album turned out to be, Hi Infidelity.
REO Speedwagon continued to score further hit albums (1982's Good Trouble, '84s Wheels Are Turnin') and singles ("Keep the Fire Burnin'," the number one hit power ballad "Can't Fight This Feeling," etc.), but the hits dried up shortly thereafter.
REO opted to soldier on, however, with replacement members Dave Amato (ex-Ted Nugent, guitar) and Bryan Hitt (ex-Wang Chung, drums) in tow, as their 1988, 14-track compilation, The Hits, proved to be a steady seller over the years.

Since the release of REO Speedwagon's first record in 1971, the band that started out in a rented Chevy station wagon playing bars across America, has produced 17 critically acclaimed albums, scored 13 top 40 singles (including two Billboard #1's) and sold over 40 million records.
The current chapter of the REO story began when lead singer/songwriter Kevin Cronin, keyboardist and founding member Neal Doughty and bass guitarist Bruce Hall joined forces with former Ted Nugent lead guitarist Dave Amato and studio drummer Bryan Hitt to form the new and improved REO Speedwagon.

The only-possibly-from-America five piece REO Speedwagon must have known what they were doing when they named themselves after a truck, for they’re obviously built like one.
Along with the slicked back sheen of their trademark ballads, REO do rock out a little at times — politely, of course - however in all this comes across as rather a restrained performance, even if everybody on stage does seem to be having a ball.
Ha, don’t be fooled into excitement though — it’s simply 50 sometimes completely ridiculous trivia questions served up on static screens that would most likely even have the band’s mothers scratching their heads in complete befuddlement.
