RISCOS Ltd - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
RISCOS Ltd is a UK limited company managed by Paul Middleton and created in January 1999 to continue user-focused development of the RISC OS operating system after the de-listing of Acorn following its effective purchase by Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in order to benefit from the shareholding that Acorn held in ARM.

An end to the dispute was signalled when RISCOS Ltd and Castle agreed to work on attempting to merge their development streams and re-unify RISC OS, with Castle's engineers working on key system functionality and RISCOS Ltd on user-facing elements.

RISC/os is an operating system distributed by MIPS Computer Systems, Inc. during the 1980s and 1990s for use with their MIPS Magnum line of computer workstations.
RISC/os was based largely on the 4.3BSD Unix release, ported to the MIPS architecture.
Because of this early BSD heritage, RISC/os was limited in comparison to modern Unix variants—for example, even the latest releases of RISC/os did not support shared libraries.

RiscOS 3 is a product Acorn, it was sold to you, you cannot do anything of it (not to surely redistribute it, in software or material form).
It is all the more desirable since the machines which have this already old OS version are rather limited by the extension in RAM (12 Mo for A540, 8 Mo for A5000 and 4 Mo for A4).
RiscOS 3 holding out of 2 Mo, it would be possible to take the image of existing ROM and to supplement it until filling 4 Mo (by modifying the end of the chain of modules - to see further).

The project was only supported by a limited proportion of RISC OS users, and only contributions by Alan Buckley and the GCCSDK developers have done work which has even indirectly helped its development, so it is likely it will continue to suffer slow development in 2006.

WHO | About microbiological risk assessment (MRA) in food
In addition to this technical difficulty, there are many data gaps that limit the precision necessary for quantitative risk assessments.
For instance, there is little information to accurately estimate the relationship between the quantity of a biological agent and the frequency and magnitude of adverse human health effects, particularly as this might relate to susceptible sub-populations.
There is also limited information on exposure assessment - the accounts of foods consumed by populations and their probable contamination.

 RasMol for RiscOS
A nice feature of RISC OS, of course, is that it is possible to load scripts into text editors such as Edit, and to rapidly and easily carry out global changes before re-running them, all within a multitasking desktop.
However, an important feature of the RISC OS version of RasMol is that it can run on any Acorn machine with OS 3.1 or higher and with 2Mb of RAM available.
A nice feature is a dither tool available under RISC OS which, when clicked on in a 256 colour mode, generates a better dithered representation of the current view, albeit with a time penalty.
