	Acura TL Community - TL vs RL Think twice (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
		The RL is a true Luxury car and has very solid construction and is heavily under-rated in the market place since it competes in a segment that demands Rear-wheel-drive and a V8.
		The RL soldiers on with a V6 and Front-wheel-drive (along with a 4-speed transmission) which is a no-no in that segment.
		The new RL that is coming in is supposed to have a RWD/AWD configuration and has a V8 along with a 5-speed/6-speed automatic transmission.....which is why I believe the current RL may be un-loaded by Acura dealers at a heavy discount....

	Acura RL vs. Acura TL - CarSpace Automotive Forums
		The RL is made in Japan, and imo is made with higher quality materials, and has a much more luxurious look and feel to it, especially the interior.
		Even when the RL "wins" over the TL in the luxury amenity and do-dad comparison (as in your case) or the MDX "wins" over the Pilot (as in our case), it still dissapoints me that Acura as a company appears hesitant to reach for more unique and loftier goals.
		With Acura's positioning of the RL vs. TL is that the TL is not only more of a driver's car, with comparable luxury amenities, but it is nearly the same size as the RL.

		Since the TL in Canada is 44, i'm asuming that would mean the RL would be 60-75 canadian rather then the 70 it is now.
		Car 1: 99 Acura TL YOu see that picture under "fabvsix"'s signature; to me that is a picture of a beautiful luxury car that outwardly was designed to compete with the 7 series beamers, lexus Ls430, the higher side of the c class benz, and the audi A8.

		RL is a great car but as I think it's plain looks are hurting the sales for sure and maybe the performance to some extent also.
		The RL is a good car, extremely competent but a little boring and frankly a few mistakes like that passenger seat that does not adjust enough and smallish wheels for this segment.
		The RL, on the other hand, is generally for baby-boomer technophiles and the few Generation X techie cohorts who can afford a $50K car.

		If the rl oil pump is recessed to accomadate the crank gear to allow it to align with the cam gears; then that expensive crank is useless.
		another unknown answer to several questions is, if the rl cam gears, and crank gear work on the 6 spd motor, will the rl tensioner bolt up to the cl oil pump, can I use the cl tensioner with the rl gears and belt, there are more questions.
		RL cams are solid same as CL-S. Not sure on material they made of.

		After receiving a mild refresh in 2002, the TL is expected to get a full redesign for the 2004 model year.
		If they make it bigger, that tells me that the TL will become a luxurious model like the ES300 and the TSX will fight it out with the 3 series and IS300...but every single mag is gonna call it a dressed up Accord unless they do something special with it.
		I'd expect to see the TL moving between (but more towards the lower end than the higher end) the ES and GS/C and E/3 and 5/A4 and A6 and the TSX moving to the base of the lower end models of each manufacturer, so like the 9-3, A4 1.8T, S40...ya'll get the idea.

		You feel like you are driving a small easy to maneuver car whereas with the TL it feels bulkier (and it is) and without the a-spec suspension is not much of a competitor to the TSX in terms of handling.
		The TL is FWD because it is based on the U.S. Accord platform thus Honda can keep costs down as opposed to reengineering a new RWD platform.
		The RL will of course have its share of problems, especially seeing as how it is the first year model.

		My dad had been looking into a TL before he just got his MDX and none of the least rates were anywhere near that good unless you were shelling out like $8K up front.
		Maybe I'll keep my current vehicle, purchase the RL and when 8 months are left...trade the TL for a TSX.
		I guess all my calling around has finally paid off, when the dealer where I purchased my RL found out I was looking into purchasing from a rival dealer, they decided that I could get out of my lease without taking the big hit I was afraid I was going to have to take.

		I think that if the RL wants to be a prime competitor they gotta up on the horses.
		But the tl is not as much of a car as the legend was, though i do recognize the price difference, the over all quality to me is not what i expected.
		Furthermore, in order to compete, the tl needs a 6 speed, possibly more aggresive tires, rear wheel or all wheel drive, carbon fiber interior touches???, a factory upgrade underbody package that doesn't overlap on the front and rear bumpers, but rather be a totally different bumper all together.

		The interior of the RL is a lot nicer but i still worry.
		I think it's pretty clear that the TL is an upscale whereas the RL is a luxury vehicle with bigger dimensions.
		The TL and TSX brought out a more sporty, fresh-looking outlook for Acura, but this new RL looks like an upper-end Accord to me. I would definitely take a TL (if they made it RWD or AWD) over this RL....
