The RSPB’s nature reserve in Conwy has been opened in time for Easter, making it possible for visitors to enjoy the estuary’s amazing scenery and see the range of wild birds present at the reserve at this time of year.

Following Government guidelines RSPB staff have assessed the risk of spreading the virus at each nature reserve, and have taken into account the views of neighbours, farmers, local authorities and other partners.
The RSPB will keep its nature reserves closed wherever there is a risk in the fight to prevent the spread of disease, although the Society will keep all its 160 sites under active review.

The RSPB is today launching a two-pronged attack on those killing hen harriers, one of England’s rarest nesting birds of prey, by preparing to launch a round-the-clock nest protection scheme to protect the bird on one of its nature reserves in northern England.
The RSPB is outraged that the Government has licensed the killing of 1500 cormorants in England in a misguided attempt to protect the sport of angling.
The RSPB has five significant nature reserves in the area, including Cliffe Pools, where 112 species were counted in 24 hours including, on the day I visited, shoveler and pochard, and Northward Hill, a large area of ancient woodland and the largest heronry in the country with 160 pairs.

 RSPB, Peregrine Falcons, Malham
RSPB Information Officers and a team of enthusiastic volunteers will be on hand everyday (weather permitting!) between 10.30am and 4.30pm from mid-May until the end of July with high-powered telescopes and binoculars to give visitors a close-up view of the stunning peregrine falcons nesting there.
