The laser-guided rotary digger machine, shipped from Ohio to the UK by the RSPB to speed up the creation of habitats for wetland birds, is now digging ditches to create wet grassland for wintering and breeding birds at the RSPB's Berney Marshes nature reserve in the Broads.
Under the conservation management of marshes, they are also valuable for bringing water onto marshes, so long as water levels in main ditches are high enough.
The RSPB's Berney Marshes nature reserve is 328 hectares (810 acres) of grazing marshes near Berney Mill, part of the Halvergate Marshes and adjacent to the estuary of Breydon Water.

Berney Arms is a remote location, situated approximately four miles from Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, England at the Western end of the tidal expanse of Breydon Water.
Well it has an impressive windmill which can be visited, a pub (The Berney Arms Inn), a RSPB nature reserve, a railway station and it stands on the Weavers' Way, a long distance footpath covering the length of Norfolk.
There is no road access for at least 2 miles in any direction so getting there involves a walk across the marshes from Great Yarmouth, Freethorpe, Reedham or Halvergate (the closest point).

On the 15th it was at the west end of Breydon Water at 07:55 and on the 16th it was present briefly on Burgh Castle Flats with Lapwings at 08:00.
A lone bird was on Belton Marshes on the 23rd.

At 70 feet, the High Mill windmill is one of the tallest on the Broads.

This area is all part of the Berney Marshes RSPB reserve (no visitor centre or anything though) where lots of winter waterfowl come to see out the colder months.
A short walk across the marsh takes you to Berney mill-- E -- where the path meets the river (and goes past the pub).
Built as another marsh drainage pump, the sails blew down years ago and it now stands as bit of a lonely thing out in the middle of nowhere.

On the 21st he/she was feeding on the mudflats along the south wall of Breydon near the pump house.
At first light on the 20th 3160 flew from RSPB Berney Marshes area in the directon of Hopton, but they didn't arrive in the fields there and their whereabouts during the rest of the day remain unknown.
At least six were in the Gapton Marshes area at Bradwell on the 25th, including three together.
