DROUGHT, which last year destroyed the RSPB's dream of returning Brading Marshes to a prime wetland haven for rare birds, has returned to seriously threaten this year's breeding season.
More than three years of hard work and hundreds of thousands of pounds have been poured into the marsh by the charity but a barometer of the scale of the problem is that the dry winter has cut in half the number of visiting ducks.
Two years ago a single pair came to the marsh and bred successfully but last year the dry summer meant there were none.
