 | | Chris Drake, information officer at RSPB Fairburn Ings near Castleford, said: "Visitors and staff at the reserve have been thrilled to see such huge numbers of geese over the last week. |
 | | Thirteen species of duck, two species of geese and the mute swan are regularly found at Fairburn Ings and, although some of the pink-footed geese have been tempted to drop down to feed on the reserve, most have been using the River Aire as a navigation guide on their north westerly journey towards Scotland. |
 | | RSPB Campfield Marsh reserve, on the Solway Estuary bordering England and Scotland, is a popular pink-footed goose staging post and, over the last week, numbers have increased dramatically as the cross-country visitors drop down to rest and feed on the estuary. |
