IBM POWER - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
IBM complemented this with a complex instruction decoder which could be fetching one instruction, decoding another, and sending one to the ALU and FPU at the same time, resulting in one of the first superscalar CPU designs in use.
IBM also is encouraging other developers and manufacturers to use the POWER architecture or any other derivative of it through the Power.org community.
The 801 was used in a number of applications inside IBM hardware, but did not become publicly known until they released the poorly-performing IBM PC/RT in the mid-1980s.

Scarborough RT (TTC) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Scarborough RT is a public transport metro line in the Scarborough district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Although the Scarborough RT line is heavily-used, its future is uncertain, as its fleet has never been expanded since it opened, and consists entirely of ICTS Mark I trains, which are no longer produced.
It is operated by the Toronto Transit Commission and administered as part of its subway system, although the Scarborough RT differs technologically from the city's other three lines in a number of respects.

RT (energy) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
RT (energy) is the product of the gas constant, R, and the temperature.
This product is used in physics as a scaling factor for energy values in macroscopic scale (sometimes it is used as a pseudo-unit of energy), as many processes and phenomena depends not on the energy alone, but on the ratio of energy and RT, i.e.

IBM RT - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The IBM RT was a computer based around on the PC-AT bus and IBM's ROMP microprocessor, a single-chip version of the IBM 801.
The RT forced an important stepping-stone in the development of the X Window System when a group at Brown University ported X version 9 to the system.
It was followed by IBM's RS/6000 and the corresponding POWER processor line, which is the basis for today's PowerPC.

RT-PCR - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Transcribing an RNA strand into its DNA complement is termed reverse transcription (RT), and is accomplished through the use of an RNA-dependent DNA polymerase (reverse transcriptase).
RT-PCR also sometimes refers to Real-Time PCR, which is an extension of the original PCR procedure and designed for quantitative purposes.
Afterwards, a second strand of DNA is synthesized through the use of a deoxyoligonucleotide primer and a DNA-dependent DNA polymerase.

Rail transport in Great Britain - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Office of Rail Regulation has as its principal functions to regulate Network Rail's stewardship of the national rail network infrastructure, and to hold train operating companies accountable to the terms of their operating licence.
A symbolic loss to the UK rail freight industry was the custom of the Royal Mail, which from 2004 is discontinuing use of its 49-train fleet, and switching to road haulage after a near 170 year preference for trains.
The Strategic Rail Authority is the statutory strategic planning and coordinating body for the rail industry, and the guardian of passenger and freight interests.

 AllRefer.com - activation energy (Chemistry) - Encyclopedia
Because the relationship of reaction rate to activation energy and temperature is exponential, a small change in temperature or activation energy causes a large change in the rate of the reaction.
Activation energies are usually determined experimentally by measuring the reaction rate k at different temperatures T, plotting the logarithm of k against 1/T on a graph, and determining the slope of the straight line that best fits the points.
If the temperature of the system is increased, the average heat energy is increased, a greater proportion of collisions between reactants result in reaction, and the reaction proceeds more rapidly.

PowerPC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
IBM also had a full line of PowerPC based desktops built and ready to ship; unfortunately, the operating system which IBM had intended to run on these desktops— Microsoft Windows NT —was not complete by early 1993, when the machines were ready for marketing.
IBM approached Apple with the goal of collaborating on the development of a family of single-chip microprocessors based on the POWER architecture.
IBM soon realized that they would need a single-chip microprocessor and to eliminate some POWER processor instructions to scale their RS/6000 line from lower-end to high-end machines, and work on a single-chip POWER microprocessor began.

U.S. Highway 20 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
US 20 is referred to as the Old Mass Pike and also as Boston Post Road in Massachusetts.
Alternate US 20 is little more than a toll-free alternative to Interstate 80, a mile to its north.
It rejoins US 20 in the Buffalo suburb of Hamburg at what is called Seven Corners, near the intersection of US 20 and US 62 and west of Ralph Wilson Stadium.

 Toronto_Subway_and_RT
The tracks of Toronto's streetcars and subways (apart from the Scarborough RT) are built to the unique gauge of 1.495 m (4 feet 10 7/8 inches), slightly wider than the usual standard of 1.435 m (4 feet 8 1/2 inches).
The Scarborough RT is an intermediate-capacity line built almost entirely above ground, which has no direct track connections to the other lines and uses a separate fleet of trains based on dramatically different technology (similar to those of the Vancouver SkyTrain).
The TTC uses the term 'rapid transit' internally to describe all four lines, but in general public usage it is normally applied only to the Scarborough RT line, which is mostly elevated, while the other three are referred to as 'subways'.

Transit Toronto - Content: The Scarborough Rapid Transit Extension
When the Scarborough RT opened to just past the Scarborough Town Centre in 1985, the next phase of the project would have taken the line to the abandoned right-of-way of the Canadian Northern, which proceeded northwest from the McCowan/Ellesmere intersection, past the Sheppard/Markham intersection, to the corner of Finch and Morningside.
The result is that the RT is frozen in place, which is unfortunate because land for a further extension is ready to be used.
All the elements that have gone in to the Scarborough RT have conspired to rob it of a meaningful future.

The saturation energy of a gain medium is the pulse energy of an input signal pulse which leads to a reduction of the gain to 1/e (≈ 37%) of its initial value.
Due to their very limited energy storage capability, they are not very useful for pulse generation with Q switching, but can be used for the generation of ultrashort pulses with mode locking or gain switching.
This is the case for lasers with a high saturation energy of the gain medium, such as solid state lasers based on ion-doped crystals or glasses.
