The province continues to face the extremely complex economic and financial environment prevailing in Argentina, with minimal financial flexibility after two years of fiscal deficits.
The province carries a relatively high level of public debt, about US$1.2 billion as of August 2001, although only 90% of this indebtedness is held with nonprovincial entities, an amount equivalent to the size of the province's budget.
It should be noted, however, that the province paid US$53 million in advance that was actually due in the second half of the year, compared to US$21 million paid in advance in the first half of 2000.

68.7% of Languedoc-Roussillon is the province of Languedoc: départements of Hérault, Gard, Aude, extreme south and extreme east of Lozère, and extreme north of Pyrénées-Orientales.
All of these pays (in Catalonia, on the other side of the border, a pays is known as a comarca) are together known as the "province of Roussillon", owning its name to the largest and most populous of the five pays.
The correct name should be "province of Roussillon and adjacent lands of Cerdagne", which is the name that was used after the area became French in 1659, based on the historical division of the five pays between the county of Roussillon (Roussillon and Vallespir) and the county of Cerdagne (Cerdagne, Capcir, and Conflent).

Concentrations of U in ground water in many parts of the Appalachian Physiographic Province range as high as 100 µg/L. Concentrations typically are highest in oxic waters of neutral to alkaline pH.
These three isotopes of Ra, as well as lead-210 (maximum concentration 4.14 pCi/L) were detected in 15 samples of water collected from six states in the Appalachian Physiographic Province during the 1998 USGS targeted national reconnaissance survey of selected radionuclides in public ground-water supplies.
Retrospective compilation of data from local ground-water-quality surveys in association with detailed mapping of the geochemical properties of the bedrock in the Appalachian Physiographic Province could be a first step in providing the information needed to formulate hypotheses regarding variations in the distribution of radionuclides in ground water and to design additional sampling surveys.
