Rabah Madjer says he is unlikely to be in place for Algeria's crucial World Cup qualifier against Senegal in Dakar on April 22, raising concern about the country keeping alive their slim chances of qualifying for next year's finals.
Madjer was appointed for a second time as Algeria's coach after the resignation of Abdelghani Djaadaoui in the wake of the 5-2 hammering suffered by the Fenecs in their last World Cup qualifier against Egypt in Cairo.
Madjer, the former African Footballer of the Year and FC Porto star, said he was also still awaiting a copy of his contract.

 Xtratime Community - Rabah Madjer
Rabah Madjer is one of greatest player in football history.
Algeria took part in the world cups of 1982 and 1986 and in 82 they have beaten the mighty Germans, in fact Algeria and Italy were the only 2 countries that stopped Breitner, Rumminige, Schummacher...etc and it was partly thanks to a certain 23 year old Rabah Madjer.
Since Futre joined Atlético Madrid in the 1987/88 season, Madjer became the undisputed star of the team (Gomes, twice european top scorer was getting older) ad his legend only grew when he scored a goal from the midfield line in the Intercontinental Cup, in the peak of a snow storm.

If the generation of the late 1970s and early 1980s brought worldwide fame to Algerian football, it is fair to say that the Madjer, Belloumi, Assad and the likes made a great impact on the sport at the time when professionalism had become the way forward.
Madjer won the Algerian Challenge Cup in 1975 and 1976 but it was during a friendly tourney in Nice (France), where he was named best player when his career changed.
Madjer was later called to the national U-21 squad where he joined Assad, Belloumi and other talented players.
