  Rabbie Namaliu - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sir Rabbie Namaliu KCMG, CSM, MP (born 1948) is the current finance minister of Papua New Guinea.
Before becoming prime minister, he served as foreign minister for the first time, from 1982 to 1984, by this time beginning his long alliance with Michael Somare, who was prime minister at that time and served as foreign minister while Namaliu was prime minister.
After he lost the 1992 elections, he was charged with corruption, but was acquitted.

Foreign Minister Rabbie Namaliu said the internal government probe uncovered "rampant" corruption among immigration and foreign ministry officials, the sale of passports and the abuse of visa, citizenship and labor laws to help people smugglers.
Namaliu told parliament the schemes were used by foreigners or corporations for people smuggling, to help foreigners work in the country and for "fast-money" making investment schemes.
Namaliu's investigation uncovered 52 cases of passports being sold to foreigners so they could gain entry to countries like Australia, Canada, the United States and New Zealand, where they might otherwise have been denied entry using their own passports.

THERE is a need for a national water conservation program in the country, former Prime Minister and Kokopo MP Sir Rabbie Namaliu said last Friday.
Sir Rabbie said the program should be aimed at building dams and weirs to store water in periods and areas of high rainfall to make water available for drinking, household needs, industry and for irrigation for agriculture.
