Walter James Vincent Maranville (November 11, 1891 - January 5, 1954), better known as Rabbit Maranville, was a Major League Baseball shortstop.
At the time of his retirement in 1935, he had played in a record 23 seasons in the National League, a mark which wasn't broken until 1986 by Pete Rose.
Maranville was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1954.

Maranville wasn't the offensive force Long was, but as I wrote in the comments to the original poll as a young player he wasn't a total offensive zero.
Maranville's slugging percentages are actually above the league from 1917-19, but they stayed steady in the years going forward while leaguewide slugging exploded.

I've always been a fan of Rabbit Maranville and always thought he deserved his plaque in Cooperstown (a minority opinion).
Rabbit was the leader in all four Win Shares indicators above but, because he played much earlier when the game was so "easy" he was rated 38th among shortstops while Luis was 13th.
Rabbit also had more defensive Win Shares at shortstop, despite having played over 3000 fewer innings at the position.

Maranville was, in many ways what Ozzie Smith before there was an Ozzie Smith.
Rabbit was the top vote-getter for his 1954 Hall of Fame vote being named on 82.94 percent of the ballots.
