| | The Phoenix Online - Put that damn race card away |
 | | When you use your race as an excuse for a certain shortcoming, you are allowing people to stereotype, because instead of confronting their misconceptions, you are perpetuating them. |
 | | Pulling out the race card allows people to stereotype a certain race by saying that a fault of theirs is shared by everyone of their race instead of acknowledging that the fault is their own. |
 | | This is not to say that the race card is never justified, because it is widely recognized that, throughout history, certain people have, based on their race, been denied equal opportunity and equal access to resources necessary to succeed. |
