Racine is a city located in Racine County, Wisconsin.
In 1854, an escaped slave who had made a home in Racine, was arrested as a fugitive and taken to jail in Milwaukee, a 100 men landed by boat from Racine and broke into the jail to free him.
In addition, Racine is the home of Johnson Wax, with its headquarters designed in 1936 by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Modern maps of Racine County show a settlement in Caledonia Township, a short distance southeast of Tabor, as "Willow Creek." It is merely a thickly settled neighborhood, with a public school in the midst, and was never platted as a village.
When the first civil townships in Racine County were created by the act of January 2, 1838, all that part of the county in fractional Range 23 and two miles of Range 22, extending across the entire county from north to south, were included in a township known as Racine.

Racine - A group that says it has registered 30,000 voters in southeastern Wisconsin could face a criminal investigation because of voter registration applications that may have been filed fraudulently.
Acting Racine City Clerk Carolyn Moskonas said Tuesday she will ask the district attorney's office to investigate at least six voter registration applications filed by Project Vote.
Moskonas said that in each of the six potential fraud cases, the people named on the Project Vote applications told her office they had not signed the forms and had not been contacted by any voter registration drives.

Racine astronaut Laurel Clark, who had anxiously waited more than two years for her first trip into space, was among the seven crew members killed when the space shuttle Columbia disintegrated in flames 200,000 feet above north central Texas today.
Laurel Clark, a Racine native, was on board Columbia to help with science experiments.
Clark, 41, a Navy diving doctor and 1979 graduate of Racine Horlick High School, was responsible for operating much of the science payload on the 16-day mission.
