Racist Like Me - Why am I the only honest bigot? By Debra Dickerson
But, unfortunately, the bottom line is simply that she is a racist and the honesty of admitting it is hardly a significant issue.
In fact, she is an ultra-racist in the sense that she is so racist that she literally cannot conceive of others not being racist.
Moreover, in proclaiming her "honest" racism, she is in fact less honest than racists of the David Duke or Al Sharpton variety, since her confession of racism is tied to her assertion of moral superiority.

IRR: Victims of racist harassment need independent support groups, research finds
A study, published this week by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, has found that independent, community-based support groups offer victims of racism a sense of empowerment and a validation of their experience that they are not finding from other agencies, such as the police, housing departments or racial equality councils.
Kusminder Chahal, who led the research, said that interviews with victims of racist harassment revealed that they felt disempowered, lacked knowledge of what could be done and were fatalistic about the chances of change.
Racist harassment support projects: their role, impact and potential by Kusminder Chahal is published by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, July 2003.

Supporting and empowering victims of racist harassment
A previous JRf study, 'We can't all be white!': Racist victimisation in the UK, found that generally people felt alone, vulnerable, unsupported and cut off from familiar networks through the experience and disclosure of racist harassment.
The racist harassment support sector could be strengthened by adequate funding streams, recognising the needs of caseworkers for structures of support, and developing community-based solutions to providing support and assistance.
A one-day workshop with caseworkers involved in the research was held to discuss the effectiveness of racist harassment casework and potential improvements that could be made in casework with victims of racist harassment.

Still, their activity is not limited to race-baiting: NLR members reportedly seek to dominate a significant portion of the prison drug trade and other criminal activity within the white penitentiary population.

Conservatives are used to being called racists, of course, because they are less likely than any segment of the population to take quiet solace in White Guilt, and because they are most likely to call out a nitwit of color.
The hope that springs from “You are a racist” is that there will, after that point, no longer exist a need for debate, as so many people will wilt from the accusation.
The stark answer is that the person is not racist, unless he is a conservative, in which case the racism is seen by some as inherent.

The Triumph of Neoracism: What John Ashcroft Learned from David Duke
While some contemporary enthusiasts for white supremacy still prefer to dress up and parade around in uniforms, such obvious displays of racism are eschewed by the more sophisticated fanatics who realize that it's best not to advertise their allegiance to the creed.
Contrary to Ashcroft's contention that he did not try to block school desegregation in St. Louis, a federal court had ruled that the state of Missouri, while he held sway as governor, was the "primary constitutional wrongdoer" in efforts to prevent the integration of public schools.
To make the case that he's not a racist, Ashcroft publicly distanced himself from Southern Partisan, a shrill, neo-Confederate journal, which decries race-mixing and glorifies the legacy of slavery.

The Racist Roots of Gun Control
This paper is intended to provide a brief summary of this unholy alliance of gun control and racism, and to suggest that gun control laws should be regarded as "suspect ideas," analogous to the "suspect classifications" theory of discrimination already part of the American legal system.
The end of slavery in 1865 did not eliminate the problems of racist gun control laws; the various Black Codes adopted after the Civil War required fls to obtain a license before carrying or possessing firearms or Bowie knives; these are sufficiently well-known that any reasonably complete history of the Reconstruction period mentions them.
Gun control advocates today are not so foolish as to openly promote racist laws, and so the question might be asked what relevance the racist past of gun control laws has.
