The ornate gates on the east of Radcliffe Square belong to All Souls.
The circular Radcliffe Camera, completed in 1749, was conceived as a library of science and medicine, but now holds works history and English literature collections as part of the Bodleian Library.
The tower on the south side of the square belongs to the university church of St Mary The Virgin, where Her Majesty the Queen attended a service on 21 May, 1999.

Ann Radcliffe was buried in a vault in the Chapel of Ease belonging to St. George’s, Hanover Square, in Bayswater, London.
Radcliffe had suffered from asthma for the past twelve years and her death on 7 February 1823 may well have been the result of a fatal attack.
Ann Radcliffe’s final novel was written in 1802 but never published in her lifetime.

One of the highlights of Oxford is the Radcliffe Camera on Radcliffe Square.
The Radcliffe Camera - which is the reading room of the Oxford University's Bodleian Library- is probably the most unusual library building I have ever seen (along with the old building of the Bodleian) in terms of architectural excellence.
Originally the library in the Radcliffe Camera held both scientific and general books, but those collections were gradually moved to other University libraries, so that today the Camera functions as the main reading room of the Bodleian Library which is next to the Camera.
