  Radhasoamis
Radhasoami is the Supreme Being who appeared in the world as Sant Satguru, the perfect saint and guru, who taught the practice of Surat Sabda Yoga, the yoga or union of the surat, soul, with the sabda, the spirit-current or word.
Radhasoami presides over a three plane universe, like the Buddhist conception, and each plane is divided into six divisions.
The Radhasoami movement has continued to splinter into more groups in India, Europe, and the U.S., and there are now many independent groups with their own gurus.

Central to the teachings of Radhasoami and surat shabd yoga is the necessity of a living human master who is competent in initiating disciples into the practice and technique of listening to the inner sound (bhajan), contemplating the inner light (dhyan), and leaving the human body at will (dying while living).
The implications of this one statement on future developments in Radhasoami are not to be underestimated, for Salig Ram's claim in itself contributes to an incarnationalist (and by implication unique) interpretation of Shiv Dayal Singh's life and work.
Another interesting twist to the hagiographical origins of Radhasoami is that all three sons of Dilwali Singh and Mahamaya (Shiv Dayal, Rai Bindraban, and Partap Singh) acted as gurus.

Shiv Dayal Singh - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Soamiji Maharaj Shiv Dayal Singh (1818–1878) (also known as Siva Dayal Sahib), the first Satguru of Radhasoami, was born August 25, 1818, into a khatri family, residing in Panni Gali, Agra, India.
Around 1866, the satsang was named “Radhasoami Satsang." Soamiji Maharaj presided over the satsang meetings for seventeen years at Panni Gali and Soami Bagh in Agra until he died on June 15, 1878.
The lineage of Shiv Dayal Singh often is referred to as Radhasoami lineage.

Within the Radhasoami circle there are numerous gurus and lineages (over twenty with the largest being Beas), all teaching a similar message but with idiosyncratic nuances.
Altogether, however, the Radhasoami teachers see themselves as part of a larger movement, the Sant tradition, and Nanak as one representative of it.
Today Radhasoami is now one of the largest and most widespread of the guru-bhakti movements.

And though there are groups which speak of this "Sound Current" which are both anterior and exterior to the Radhasoami tradition, all of the new movements under discussion have based their knowledge and writings on Radhasoami's own particular interpretation of Surat Shabd Yoga, the practice of uniting the soul with the internal sound energy.
The name Radhasoami has been generally applied to those gurus and gaddis (the seat/residence of a saint, living or deceased) who trace their spiritual lineages back to Shiv Dayal Singh (1818-1878), the proclaimed founder of the movement who resided in the city of Agra, in the Uttar Pradesh District of India.
I have spelled the word "Radhasoami" (with the "o" instead of the transliterated "w") in deference to the Soami Bagh Satsang in Agra which consider it an affront not to spell the words Radha and "Soami" together (thereby dropping the capital in the last word).

The hinduistic reformation movement "Radhasoami Satsang" (Unification with the master of the soul) was founded 1861 by Shiv Dayal Singh.
Essential in the teachings of Radhasoami and "Surat shabd yoga" is the necessity of a living human master who is competent to initiate disciples into the practice and technique of listening to the inner sound (bhajan), contemplating the inner light (dhyan) and the mystic death (dying while living).
The Radhasoami, the master of the soul, is so similar to the hinduistic pair Radha-Krishna, so that Radha would have the meaning of the spiritual soul and not of the first active divine force.

One of the peculiar historical trends rampant in Radhasoami is the large number of gurus and groups in America which have attempted to genealogically dissociate themselves from their original ministries.
Whereas Radhasoami Satsang Beas gives five names for its meditation mantra (again, corresponding with the names of the five inner Lords of the respective inner regions), Eckankar allows its initiators to choose from a list of names, which are not similar to Radhasoami's but more closely mimicking Transcendental Meditation's list of mantras.
Whereas in Radhasoami the meditator is supposed to repeat their five name mantra when they encounter any lights or beings inside, in M.S.I.A. the neophyte is required to "withhold" the names, lest the intruding spirit capture the would-be soul.

 Sant Mat / Radhasoami Cosmology
In the various Radhasoami branches in India there has been debate over some of these more rarified distinctions, but overall there is general agreement on the major features of the inner planes.
My take on the Sant Mat / Radhasoami cosmology is that the five or more higher worlds and associated phenomena can be associated to some extent with the "vertical" hierarchy of planes of existence, but seem more to pertain to the ""emanational" ontocline / axis / parameter.
The reason I don't consider the Sant Mat cosmology to be primarily "vertical" is that I am following Sri Aurobindo in assuming that the "vertical" series of planes tends towards greater integral spiritual transformation (culminating in Supramentalisation), whereas the Sant Mat cosmology tends to greater transcendence and otherworldliness.

 Similarities with Radhasoami
Radhasoami teachings were also introduced to Westerners indirectly, through groups that utilized Radhasoami ideas but presented them under their own banner.
This is especially so in Radhasoami, for its teachings maintain that the eyes are energy centers and energy transmitters; hence the meeting of eyes between master and devotee is a moment of dramatic spiritual interaction.
One of the first descriptions of Radhasoami by an outsider, a Christian missionary in India, called it "a semi-secret sect." Some say the reference to Radhasoami teachings as the "secret of secrets" suggests only the intimacy of the truth that is conveyed from master to disciple, not its exclusivity.

All of these new panths, though, have one thing in common: they give significant emphasis to the Shabd, the transcendent power which is believed to be the creative and sustaining force of the universe (it isalso known as the "Audible Life Stream" or the "Music of the Spheres").
