BBC Radio 4 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Radio 4 is the second most popular British domestic radio station after Radio 2, and was awarded "UK Radio Station of the Year" at the 2004 Sony Radio Academy Awards for the second year running.
Unlike the Radio 4 of today, it had regional variations and was broadcast on medium wave rather than long wave, with a network of VHF FM transmitters being added progresively from 1955.
Radio 4 splits from the World Service at 0529, with a brief introduction from the early shift continuity announcer, before the 5-minute "Radio 4 UK Theme" (composed by Fritz Spiegl).

Splendid Magazine reviews Radio 4: Gotham!
Radio 4 are very much of-the-moment, which in the New York underground right now means mining the stuttering thrill of post-punk and the grooving cynicism of no-wave until those wells are dry, dead, useless.
Radio 4 clearly take their influences seriously, from their name, referencing Gang of Four and P.I.L., to their angled, jittery guitar jangles and dubby basslines.
Radio 4 certainly aspire to the kind of cutting, brutal political and social exposés achieved by their heroes, but they simply can't convert.

 Chapter 4: Radio
If the radio waves are moving back and forth at the right frequency, then the electrons in the wire will just be crowding towards one end of the wire when the radio waves start moving them back to the other side.
This radio will also have some drawbacks (for one thing it will be over 1,000 feet long!) but we will solve these problems in the next radio we build.
The capacitance of the antenna is reacting with the inductance of the coil to resonate at the frequency of the radio station.

Having grown up with great Rock-N-Roll radio stations and at the height of their popularity, the members of Pearl Jam decided to recreate the lost art of radio through satellite radio shows and pirate radio broadcasts, once again proving that old-fashioned radio broadcasting was more powerful than any advertisement, in-store promotion or other gimmick.
The live show broadcasts were a way to shun the corporate radio giants who were begging Pearl Jam to repeat their highly successful Easter Broadcast from the year before.
