Despite committing to the Eureka DAB system, Commercial Radio Australia highlighted the potential perils of requiring access to new spectrum, acknowledging its disappointment with less than full success in seeking a 10-year moratorium on the deployment of new radio stations in new DAB spectrum.
While not altering the allegiance to the DAB election by commercial radio broadcasters in Australia, these cautionary reports highlighted the perils of being subject to unpredictable regulatory oversight in gaining access to new spectrum, and the current shortcomings in acquiring high-quality digital radios at modest costs, even for the most successfully deployed digital radio system.

Their new website (www.radioheritage.net) will present thousands of fascinating stories about radio in the Pacific area, from the 1890s to the present day.
It will soon launch a series of simple guides to radio stations in New Zealand, Australia and around the Pacific, guides to WWII stations in the Pacific, and engage in an oral history project to collect original stories from those who remain from the early days of radio.
The 1890-1920 period is the accepted beginnings of radio in the Pacific, with Lord Ernest Rutherford known to have transmitted 'herzian' waves at Canterbury College in Christchurch, New Zealand as early as 1894, making him a contemporary of Marconi.

 The Radio Heritage Collection Project
Many years ago, the New Zealand Radio DX League made a decision to preserve and protect some of the original material collected by members, such as QSL cards and letters, logbooks, magazines, brochures and pamphlets from radio stations, and other collectibles.
The aim is to bring together, in one place, the stories of radio, initially in the Pacific.
The initial advisory board for the project is the Heritage Committee of the New Zealand Radio DX League, and comprises David Ricquish (Chairman), Paul Ormandy, Adrian Peterson, Martin Hadlow, and Jack Fox.
