Antique Radio Classified: The Emerson Multivalve Tube
The Multivalve tube is employed as an RF amplifier, detector and AF amplifier.
The use of the Multivalve tube was not limited to factory-produced radios.
These tubes were followed by more twin triodes, triodes with two diodes, triodes with pentodes, and on and on.

Antique Radio Classified: The 300B Tube Lives Again!
Tube audiophiles will be interested in the results of various listening tests, comparing modern reissues against each other, and against vintage 300Bs.
Each reissue tube comes with a card listing its serial number and the test results for that specific tube: interelectrode capacitances; filament, plate and grid current; plate resistance; grid-plate transconductance; amplification factor (mu); delta transconductance at 4.5 volts; and plate curves for the plate current versus plate voltage.
The attention now given to tube amplifiers (especially using the 300B) is shifting from push-pull amplifier circuits of the Macintosh, Dynaco, Heathkit, and others popular in the late fifties and sixties, to single-ended triode circuit designs without the use of any feedback.

WA2ISE sub-mini tube AM radio page
When the rectifier tube and other tubes are warm enough to conduct current thru their cathodes, this current will add with the heater string current to pass thru the submini tube heaters.
The mu (20) of the 6111 tube is the same as the mu (20) of the oscillator portion of a 12BE6 (cathode, g1 and g2 (which corresponds to the plate of the 6111)).
Fire the radio up, and with the other radio tuned to that weak station, tune around the dial on the mod radio, and if the triode tube is working, you should hear the local oscillator.

 Compactron "AA3" AM tube radio
The mu (18) of this tube is similar to the mu (20) of the oscillator portion of a 12BE6 (cathode, g1 and g2 (which corresponds to the plate of the 8B10)).
As this tube was intended to be a horizontal deflection output, it doesn't expect to be able to continuously pass 450 ma at 50 v plate current, as this would exceed the plate dissipation.
This allows a tube to be used in a Class A amp at its max rated voltage (B+) and allow enough headroom for the AC envelope of the signal to ride on top of the B+.

Five phono stages designs, two using the type 416 planar triode intended for low Z, low output cartridges (MC) and three for high output cartridges (usually MM), two of which feature a hybrid cascode front end specifically developed for the Sumiko Blue Point Special.
This, while not entirely intuitive is quite easy to use once you have figured out how to enable the tube models (or somebody has shown you how).
While a bit limited in the number of nodes it will analyse, it is good for filter and network design, also for "getting on the page" with DC coupled stuff e.t.c.

 Studio-quality triode-tube $4000 iPod speakers
Using superior analog technology all but lost in today’s common digital electronics, this is the first tube-based iPod speaker system, producing a luxurious warmth and clarity prized by audiophiles and previously difficult to reproduce outside of custom-built amplifiers of a handful of live musicians.
Developed and built by German audio technicians, the system consists of an aluminum-encased amplifier housing four powerful Class-A tubes which glow gently as they generate warm, low-octave sound that is virtually distortion-free, considered by audiophiles to be the most pleasing to the human ear.
Start with a great tube mic, a Class-A mic pre, a top-notch A/D converter (running 24bits and at least 88.1kHz) and a mixing system comparable to Pro Tools LE or better and you can obtain a sound to rival anything available if your acoustic environment is working with you rather than against you.
