To determine whether repeat radiographs are necessary, Farbman and colleagues assessed the utility of follow-up radiographs in 70 children (46 boys and 24 girls) with torus fractures of the distal radius or ulna.
Radiographs before and immediately after casting were obtained in the emergency department in 24 of the children.
The authors conclude that radiographs after application of a cast for a nondisplaced torus fracture are not required.

Plain Abdominal Radiographs of No Clinical Utility in Clinically Suspected Appendicitis
Radiographs on the 642 patients were interpreted without knowledge of final clinical diagnosis, and a review of the reports was conducted blinded to each patient's clinical diagnosis.
Overall radiographic impressions were normal 50 % of the time in patients with appendicitis, and 60 % of the time in patients without (p=0.0075).
Radiographic impression suggested a diagnosis (appendicitis or other) in 10% of the cases; failed to correlate 57 % of the time.

Radiographs   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
Radiographs are similar to photographs in that energy (light or x-rays) is needed to excite the chemicals in the film to create an image.
Radiographs are displayed by projecting a light behind the film to illustrate the different contrasts of fl, white and shades of gray.
If you are concerned that the interpretation of a radiograph may not be accurate ask your veterinarian to explain it to you again or have it referred to a specialist.

Negative radiographic contrast agents are air and carbon dioxide (CO The latter is easily absorbed by the body and causes less spasm.
Radiographers perform these examinations, sometimes in conjunction with a radiologist (for instance, when a radiologist performs a CT-guided biopsy).
The radiograph is examined as a negative, without printing as a positive as in photography.

Before obtaining prereduction radiographs, physicians were asked to rate their confidence in the diagnosis of anterior shoulder dislocation on a 10-point scale (zero = "no confidence" and 10 = "certain confidence").
Fractures were found on seven of the prereduction radiographs and on 11 of the postreduction radiographs.

Radiographs of fish can be made either at the client’s home using portable equipment or in the office or hospital using stationary equipment.
As a general rule, radiographing the patient in the office or hospital is a better alternative for several reasons.
Whether the radiographs are being made at the office or in the field, the same basic procedures are necessary to produce diagnostic quality images in a safe manner.

The four radiographs, which show us everything on the canvas, were very intricate and, therefore, difficult to read.
First, the four radiographs were photographed and montaged.4 An 8″ × 10″ print was made of the negative (Figure 1).
While closely comparing the print of the montaged radiographs with a photograph of the painting itself (Figure 2), which was printed to the exact same size as the radiographs, the designs that could be seen in the radiographs that were not in the visible painting were traced on the acetate.

Krivopal et al showed that a strategy using daily routine chest radiographs, compared with a restrictive strategy in which radiographs are obtained based only on clinical indications, was not associated with better outcome.
In comparing the utility of daily "routine vs clinically indicated" portable radiographs of the chest in ventilated medical ICU patients, they found that studies ordered with a clinical indication had a higher score for both diagnostic and therapeutic efficacy, and that there was no difference in the health outcomes for the two groups.
The most frequent therapeutic interventions were the use of diuretics to treat pulmonary edema (26%), repositioning of the endotracheal tube (24%), and diagnostic studies to determine the cause of new pulmonary infiltrates (16%).
