In ELISA assay, a reaction in the form of oxidation of the bound enzyme-labelled antibody, produces a colour formation that is proportional to the amount of antigen or antibody present in the sample.
Radioimmune Assay is very similar to ELISA method, except that it uses radio-isotopes instead of enzyme-labelled antibody to detect the antigen/antibody complex.

This report is an attempt to summarize in brief the data accumulated to date on these points and to indicate the directions for future applications of these specific monoclonal antibodies for identification of leishmanial isolates.
Characterization of the Leishmania was performed with an indirect radioimmune binding assay (RIA) using whole parasite lysates as antigen.
However, variation in the sensitivity of the test may occur due to the type of screening assay used (i.e., immunofluorescence, RIA or the ELISA technique).

Sera are tested for antibody titer in an ELISA assay (or with the investigator's screening method) and if titers are high, hyperimmunization is performed and spleen cells are isolated and fused to myeloma cells with polyethylene glycol (PEG).

Owing to the great promotion of medical knowledge, pharmacological manufacture, and instrumental technology in recent years, besides the traditional functional imaging, nuclear medicine now could provide more accurate anatomic relationship of disease, especially after the new scanner consisted with CT function was vended.
In our hospital, there are two major jobs of nuclear medicine, including radioimmune assay and radiopharmaceutical scintigraphy.
Radioimmune assay could evaluate some special metabolites or hormone in kinds of body fluid, and radiopharmaceutical scintigraphy could provide visible information of body status with injected very few amount of radiotracer.

Monoclonal antibody 47-10/10, prepared using D80-100 virus and directed at the NS1 non-structural glycoprotein, had a significantly lower (100-fold) solid phase radioimmune assay endpoint titre for D80-141 antigen than for D80-100 antigen.
By the indirect immunofluorescence assay, 47-10/10 had lower antibody endpoint titres against D80-141, the NGC strain and 13 (12%) of 110 Bangkok/80 isolates than to a control antibody preparation.
These results suggest that strain D80-141 represents a second minor topotype of dengue-2 which was circulating concurrently with the major endemic topotype in Bangkok in early 1980.

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) definition - Medical Dictionary definitions of popular medical terms
Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA): ELISA stands for "enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay." This is a rapid immunochemical test that involves an enzyme (a protein that catalyzes a biochemical reaction).
The substance the enzyme acts on is then added, and the amount of product measured in some way, such as a change in color of the solution.
ELISA tests are generally highly sensitive and specific and compare favorably with radioimmune assay (RIA) tests.
