The project dealt with the preparation and characterization of Na-Gd phosphate glasses doped with Ce, which were a very attractive material for detection of neutrons, gama-, and X-rays thanks to their high radioluminescence efficiency.
The thermal properties, chemical stability, glass forming ability and radioluminescence efficiency of prepared samples as well phase diagram of the NaPO3-Gd(PO3)3 system were determined.
Radioluminescence efficiency for a glass with a Gd concentration of 89 mol % was three times greater than that of BGO.

Delayed radioluminescence study as the method to estimate a concentration of structural imperfections forming triplet excitation traps
The limits of the method application to estimate the concentration of structural defects forming traps for triplet excitation are estimated.
It is shown, that this method limitations are close to its physical limit defined by phosphorescence time of its excited molecule.

 Feldspar radioluminescence kinetics
A study of radioluminescence kinetics of natural feldspar dosimeters: experiments and simulations
The infrared emission in radioluminescence of feldspar crystals determines the received irradiation dose.
Data from light stimulation experiments (ultraviolet to infrared) suggest that a localized transition is most likely to be responsible for the infrared optically stimulated luminescence and that this process is possible for only a relatively small proportion of trapped electrons.

As an example of a cooperative venture based on the very flexible configuration of the 1100-series readers, a new automated measurement system for radioluminescence developed as part of the doctoral research of Gunther Erfurt under the direction of Matthias Krbetschek at the Saxon Academy of Sciences at Liepzig shows the possibilities of the 1100-series platform.
In the new technique of radioluminescence dosimetry developed there, it became desirable to build a multi-sample measurement system where a number of samples could be irradiated and measured at one time.

Luminescence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The following kinds of luminescence are known to exist:
Historically, radioactivity was first thought of as a form of "radioluminescence", although it is today considered to be separate since it involves more than electromagnetic radiation.

The term radioluminescence also encompasses x-ray fluorescence, which is discussed below.
It refers to both the fluorescence and phosphorescence produced by nuclear radiation (e.g., gamma rays).
Incidentally, Ernest Rutherford employed a device based on Crookes' spinthariscope to measure alpha particle trajectories for developing his theories on atomic structure.

Another (Mo,Nb) doubly doped PWO was developed, which has shown high steady-state radioluminescence efficiency comparable with BGO, another pentavalent codopants as Ta or V have shown similar performance.
Ce,Tb and Mn-doped Na-Gd phosphate glasses were prepared and studied for optical and radioluminescence characteristics, optimum composition was found for maximum radioluminescence output (Na67Gd30Ce3, Na60Gd30Tb10, Na60-65Gd30Mn5-10 - mol.% of related phosphates in the melt).
Maximum radioluminescence effciency was achieved of about 10-15% of CsI:Tl only.
