Radley is a village and civil parish located on the northern edge of Abingdon in the English county of Oxfordshire (though formerly part of Berkshire).
Radley is served by a railway station on the Oxford-London line.
Radley Church of England Primary School is next to the church, not to be confused with Radley College, one of Britain's leading independent schools, which was founded in 1847.

The parish of Radley is situated half-way between Oxford and Abingdon.For centuries it was part of the county of Berkshire, but, by virtue of county boundary alterations brought about by the Local Government Act 1972, our parish and others in North Berkshire became part of Oxfordshire on 1st April 1974.
Lower Radley is the oldest part of the modern village, and is composed of houses dating from the fourteenth century to modern times.
Radley and the other possessions of Abingdon Abbey were surrendered to the Crown on 9th February 1538 upon the dissolution of the monasteries and the manor was granted to Thomas, Lord Seymour of Sudely.

He was educated at Winchester and Merton College, Oxford, was elected a fellow of Exeter College in 1827, and from1831-1853was a tutor there.
He was originally himself one of the managers of St Columba, and sub-warden of Radley, but his business management was not successful in either case, and his personal responsibility for the debts contracted by Radley caused the sequestration of his Oxford fellowship.
The first University Commission had just released the colleges from the fetters of their original statutes, and Sewell was called on to determine his attitude towards the strong reforming party in.

Radley was incorporated by royal charter in 1890 and remains an all-boarding, all-boys’ school.
Radley has a higher provision of computers than most similar schools: 200 computers are available for teaching and learning, of which 165 are for use with classes.
Parents have opportunities to visit Radley for both school and house events: the demonstration by Year 9 rowers to their parents and the number of spectators seen at the cricket matches played over the weekend are good examples.

Oxford's earliest colleges were University College (1249), Balliol (1263) and Merton (1264).
Originally the Priory Church of St Frideswide, the building was extended and incorporated into the structure of the Cardinal's College shortly before its refounding as Christ Church in 1546, since which time it has functioned as the cathedral of the Diocese of Oxford.
Some of these are college schools, dating back centuries, which retain their links with the University and have kept the tradition of single sex education.

Founded in 1847 by the Rev William Sewell, Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford, to provide a public school education on the principles of the Church of England.
The chapel and religious education are an important part of the college’s life.

The Lordship of the Manor was held from 1569 by the Stonhouse family and from 1794 by the Bowyers.
A school was established there in 1819 but failed in 1844, while 1847 saw the beginning of St. Peter's College, now known as Radley College, a public school for boys aged between 13 and 18 years, now with some 600 pupils.
In the college grounds stands the Radley Oak, a tree of unknown antiquity but said to have been rejected for naval construction in the Napoleonic Wars because it was already diseased.

Sincere thanks is due to our trainer Rob Cudmore who devotes a huge amount of time to nurturing College's young players and the parents who are often on hand at training sessions and matches to deliver and prepare the horses.
Sixty children from prep schools in our area visited college, not only to be dazzled by helicopters and the plethora of CCF manoeuvres taking place, but also to receive expert coaching from some of the top polo-playing professionals in the country.
College very much looks forward to reaping the talents of many who visited us in the near future, ensuring the continued enthusiasm for this sport at Cheltenham College.

The sports facilities at Radley College are to open to the public mainly through membership of a variety of clubs.
The playing field and sports pavilion next to Radley Village Hall are used by the various teams of Radley Boys Football Club, but are also available for hire from the Parish Council.
Radley Athletics Club, founded in 1972 as Radley Ladies, now uses the facilities at Tilsley Park in Abingdon.

Aside from the educational facilities on offer, the college campus is home to a rather fine looking nine-hole golf course, which, despite mainly being for the use of college students, is also open to the golfing public.

Despite excellent sailing by Sam Petty/Max Jones of Radley College in a 420, the pair were overhauled on handicap by the Optimist of World Optimist sailor Timothy O’Laoire, Sandfort Park College, Dublin, followed by the Topaz of Billy Clarke/Daniel O’Regan of Schull Community College in 3rd place.
Race 5 in the bronze fleet was won by Ross Murray of Schull Community College in his topper followed by Stuart Robinson, Belfast and Colman O’Riordan/Ed Duncan Smith in a mirror coming in 3rd place.

Dover College has grown over the past few years, from a school of approximately 240 pupils aged 11-18, to over 350 pupils aged 4-18.
Expansion in numbers has enabled a huge amount of development to take place- the School is now better equipped than as ever been the case.
