posted 13 May 2005 08:06 PM I remember when Rafe Mair was fired by CKNW in 2003, because it was in the period between Joy Macphail stepping down as NDP leader and the first candidate coming forward to replace her.
I'd have to agree with those that say that Mair's (relatively new) emphasis on environmental issues (and more progressive positioning vis a vis the BC Liberals the new "free enterprise coalition") does seem to be genuine.
When Mair was in Bill Bennett's Cabinet, there was no aquaculture industry and the wild stocks were much healthier than they have been in the last ten years.

The 71-year-old Mair denies forcing her to do anything, and while he admits he swore, he says the words weren't directed at her.
Mair says it was probably time for him to leave anyway, suggesting he had a number of differences with Corus Entertainment, which took over the station a few years ago.
