Dr Rafe de Crespigny (full name: Richard Rafe Champion de Crespigny; born 1936) is a retired Adjunct Professor with the China and Korea Centre, Australian National University in Canberra, Australia.
de Crespigny is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities.
Rafe de Crespigny was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2001 for services to Australian society in Asian studies.

Yes, Crespigny is indeed one of the few non-Chinese specialists on the Han and Three Kingdoms periods, and I really respect him for spending a few more years to get a second B.A. and M.A. in Chinese and Oriental Studies.

Dr Rafe de Crespigny has recently been awarded funding from the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation in Taiwan for A Biographical Dictionary of China from Later Han to the Three Kingdoms 23-220 AD.
The project is a biographical dictionary in the English language of all of the people of major historical importantance who are recorded as having lived in China and its neighbouring states during the Later Han period.
