Gerard Rafferty (born April 16, 1947, in Paisley) is a Scottish singer and songwriter.
In his early years, Gerry Rafferty earned money by the formerly illegal practice of busking on the London Underground.
In 1972 Rafferty and his old school friend Joe Egan formed Stealers Wheel, a group beset by legal wranglings but which did have a huge hit with "Stuck in the Middle With You" (later immortalised in the infamous torture scene in the motion picture, Reservoir Dogs).

Rafferty's onscreen image as a laconic bushman struck a chord with film goers and Rafferty soon became the most popular actor in Australia, appearing in films like Forty Thousand Horsemen, The Rats of Tobruk, The Overlanders and Eureka Stockade.
Initially Rafferty was marketed in the United States as the Australian version of Cary Grant before being allowed to resume playing variations of the laconic bushman role that had served him well thus far.
Rafferty died of a heart attack in Sydney at the age of 62 shortly after completing his role in Wake in Fright.

Additionally, Rafferty began develop a distinctive style as a singer-guitarist and songwriter, and this eventually led to tension between him and Harvey-the latter exited in 1970, and Rafferty and Connelly continued together for two more albums, their line-up expanding to a sextet, but their relationship began to break down.
Rafferty was in the group, then out, then in again as the line-up kept shifting-their first album was a success, the single "Stuck In The Middle With You" a huge hit, but nothing after that clicked commercially, and by 1975 the group was history.
