Rage: When politics and fiction collide
Rage, his debut novel, may be proof of that.
Rage documents her life through the many roles she is compelled to play -- from abandoned child to professional dancer, politician-in-training to megalomaniac.
"The novel began as an attempt to understand why politicians are the way they are," says Venkateswaran, "but it quickly became more of an exploration of Lakshmi's inner and personal life, with politics being a device to explore the character." Politics is only part of the narrative, he adds.

As "Road Rage" opens, Wexford is taking a final walk through the woodland of his childhood before the bulldozers knock it down to make way for a new highway bypass.
I have a couple of loose-end quibbles about the ending, but they are dwarfed by the essential coherence and complexity of the book, and by how seriously Rendell takes her responsibility as a novelist, not just as a practitioner of a genre.
When we finish a book like "Road Rage," we feel not only the superficial release of discovering who did it, but the more enduring and satisfying sensation of having lived a while in the company of characters we care about in a world as intricate and intractable as our own.

The basic strategy of the RAGE technique is to use PCR methods to amplify fragments of the cDNAs present in two populations, e.g.
To prepare the templates for RAGE amplification, a unique fragment of each cDNA, the gene-specific target, is prepared by digestion with restriction nucleases and poly(A) selection, and primer binding sites are ligated onto the cut ends of the fragments.
From the known sequence of each mRNA, one can infer the exact sequences of the RAGE primers which match the sequences at the A- and B-ends, and which will therefore amplify a particular bitag; the length of the amplimer produced can also be predicted.

Marvel had produced many great comics in the '60s and '70s, but "Panther's Rage" is the first comic that was created from start to finish as a complete novel.
Running in two years' issues of Jungle Action (#s 6 through 18), "Panther's Rage" is a 200-page novel that journeys to the heart of the African nation of Wakanda, a nation ravaged by a revolution against its king, T'Challa, the Black Panther.
That's the power of this novel in particular and McGregor's writing in general - the feeling that things aren't just happening to characters, but that people with brains, hearts, libidos and passions are living through unique experiences.
