  Rainbow
Rainbow is one of the few instances where someone from a legendary band successfully created another legendary band.
The album, however, falls short of the maximum score because it is quite uneven: there are at least three songs that would not hurt the release if dropped.
Naturally, the album opens with "Kill the King" (is there a Rainbow concert release that does not have this one?) It must have been quite a treat to see this formation live.

 Rainbow Album Reviews
By comparison, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow seems a tad tentative, perhaps in part because the overall talent level in the band wasn't nearly as high, but also because it took an album for Blackmore and Dio to figure out exactly what they wanted their band to be.
Not coincidentally, the three Rainbow albums with Turner were the most commercially successful of the band's career, but it also proved to be the least musically adventurous and ultimately unsatisfying Rainbow era.
Most of the album is comprised of live cuts of the Turner years, and most of Turner's songs are improved away from the sterile confines of recording studios.

Rainbow's constant lineup changes makes this an interesting listen due to the various styles and in particular the various vocalists who have been a part of Blackmore's band.
However, the key to understand this track and the overall album is the fact that Roger Glover joined the band on bass to help Blackmore with the songwriting.
The title of the album was "Difficult to Cure" and in some regards this release showed Rainbow at their most diverse.

The rest are more "serious" albums, this one seems more "happy" and airey, which is a goofy way to describe a rock album, but I can't think of any other way.
This album was originally released under the title of "Rainbow: On Stage".
It isn't the greatest sounding live album, but it is a testament to the brilliance of this lineup that the sound and energy can shine through on a not totally up to par recording.

Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore formed Rainbow in 1975 with the remnants of Elf, a band that originally included percussionist Mark Nauseef and still included vocalist Ronnie James "Dio" Padovani (active since 1957).

Rainbow's original live album, "On Stage", was released in 1977, drawing from recordings made on the same tour as this album.
However, if you believe the rumour, much of that "live" album is actually not live; apparently there is about as much re-recorded and replaced as there is actually from the concerts.

 Rainbow Biography : Oldies.com
Their debut, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, was released in 1975, and was undeservedly seen by some as a poor imitation of Deep Purple.
It was when Rainbow moved to America that difficulties between Dio and Blackmore came to a head, resulting in Dio's departure from the band in 1978.
The album was a marked departure from the Dio days, and while it is often considered one of the weaker Rainbow collections, it did provide an enduring single, "Since You've Been Gone", written and originally recorded by Russ Ballard.

The rest of the album flits between those two styles, jangly Beatlesque power pop, and a noisier, heavier brand of art-psych freakbeat.

Egomaniac Ritchie Blackmore recorded this album as a solo effort with Ronnie James Dio and his current band Elf, minus their guitarist of course.
Rainbow was something of a supergroup at this point with Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover handling bass duties, as well as producing, consumate drummer Cozy Powell pounding on the skins, and Don Airey on keys.

The Harvard Crimson :: Arts :: Album Review: Rainbow by Mariah Carey
Listening to Rainbow, Mariah Carey's seventh album, it's clear that the best reason to rock this New Year's will be to celebrate the end of the Mariah decade.
The album strips that sound down to its purest form, cleverly obfuscating Mariah's predictably smarmy lyrics with sonorous mumblings, so that we can clasp Mariah's vocal range to our hearts without having to trouble with the language.
To the album's credit, Jay-Z, Usher, Snoop and Missy Elliott are featured, although Jay-Z seems to be wanting nave Annie-esque samples for counterpoint--not that Mariah sounds particularly world-weary when she sings about her "Heartbreaker" boyfriend.

Surprisingly little of the album made it into the live shows, 'Stargazer' and 'Do You Close Your Eyes' featured in the 1976 shows, while 'Light in the Black' was dropped early on in the supporting tour.

Rainbow is an album by American country singer Johnny Cash, his last for Columbia Records, released in 1985 (see 1985 in music).
Also included is a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?," from Pendulum.
Following the release of this album and a duet album with Jennings in 1986, Cash moved to Mercury Records as a result of Columbia's fading interest in his music.
